Alberta PNP Draw: Province Targets Healthcare Workers With 33 Canada Immigration Invitations

Alberta has targeted health care workers in a new lottery through Express Entry-related flow e Alberta Priority Immigration Program, issuing 33 invitations.

The February 20 draw targeted medical workers with a job offer in Alberta and had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 311.

Alberta reached its allocation of 9,750 provincial nominations for 2023. It has not yet received its allocation for 2024, although it is expected to be more than 10,000.

High number of applications

Alberta says a large number of AAIP applications have been received in the following occupations, which means they may take longer to process:

  • 62020 – Food service supervisors
  • 63200 – Cook
  • 62010 – Retail sales supervisors
  • 13110 – Administrative assistant
  • 65201 – Food counter attendants, kitchen assistants and related support occupations
  • 73300 – Transport truck drivers
  • 13100 – Administrative clerk
  • 12200 – Accounting technicians and accountants
  • 42202 – Early childhood educators and assistants
  • 21231 – Software engineers and designers

What are the requirements for Express Entry to Alberta?

To be eligible to receive a notice of interest, candidates must:

  • You have an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
  • Have expressed an interest in permanently immigrating to Alberta.
  • Work in a profession that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification.
  • Have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 300 points.

Factors that can improve a candidate’s chances of receiving a Notice of Interest:

  • A job offer from an Albertan employer and/or work experience in Alberta.
  • After graduating from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
  • Have a relative living in Alberta: parent, child and/or sibling.
